Young Kim

Young Kim first discovered his love for art in childhood in South Korea, where he proudly created my earliest drawings. Although his art teacher encouraged him to pursue art school, financial limitations and family expectations led Young Kim to follow a different path. He later became a computer programmer, but art never fully left him.

Over the years, Young Kim has returned to painting whenever life allowed —experimenting with oils, acrylics, and self-teaching through practice and online tutorials. During the COVID-19 pandemic, working from home gave him the time to paint consistently again. In 2022, inspired by John Singer Sargent and later influenced by Egon Schiele’s expressive line work, Young Kim began developing a more personal figurative style.

In July 2023, Sparrow Gallery in Denison invited him to showcase his work, marking the beginning of Young Kim's professional art career. Today, he creates work using mixed media, ink, collage, acrylic, and oil on paper, wood panels, and canvas. Though he started late and remain self-taught, Young Kim is grateful to now fully embrace the artistic journey he once set aside.
