As a former military aviator and the son of a military aviator, Michael Craig was blessed to travel the world, experiencing a vast array of cultures and landscapes. His upbringing and Air Force career have led him to live in eleven states and four foreign countries (and in his view, that's a huge bonus). Extensive travels throughout Europe, southwest Asia, and the Far East have instilled a deep affection for other lands and peoples, and provided a mountain of reference photos. After all the roaming, Mike has settled (“maybe”) in his native state of Texas, in the small town of Whitesboro. All this traveling, he says, gets into the blood and works its way into his artwork.

Mike works primarily in oils and occasionally in pencil, depicting a wide range of subject matter—everything from landscapes, to portraits, to depictions of historical aircraft. He's often inspired to paint scenes that include water, and almost anything that has an element of dramatic natural light. His style might be called painterly realism. Mike’s artistic training comes primarily through books, videos, and a few evening classes and weekend workshops. On occasion, he enjoys being able to teach others about what he's learned in the form of painting workshops. Mike considers the talent he has, and the joy he derives from creating and sharing it, to be true gifts from God.
