Dale was born in Fort Worth, Texas

His art reflects his ancestry, he is the grandson of Andrew Jackson Adkins, who moved to Oklahoma in 1887. Dale has a degree in fine art from Oklahoman City University, he has lived most of his life in Texas & Oklahoma. More published then Norman Rockwell, Dale is best know for his illustration of the L'Amour western novels.

 

An avid aviator, he has flown dozens of aircraft including: an AT-6 (Texan), Stearman, Twin Beech D-18, 680 Aero Commander, & he has 125 hours in the P-51 Mustang.

Dale lives in north Texas where he continues to create popular art.
