Pam Cooper

Pam was born in St. Petersburg, Florida. She discovered she had a natural talent for drawing in elementary school. Her mother placed her in a private oil painting class when she was 9 years old. She continued painting on weekends for years. After high school, she continued her education at St. Petersburg Junior College receiving an Associate’s Degree. She joined the United States Air Force and stayed for 6 years and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. While in the Air Force, she taught herself how to paint watercolor because of the many moves required and it was easier to clean up and paint anywhere. While traveling with her military husband, she painted mainly for her enjoyment and sold some prints and note cards in local gift shops.

While her husband went to college to get his officer commission, Pam went back to college full time to finish her art Degree. She graduated from the University of South Florida, Tampa in 1985 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts . After traveling stateside and abroad with her husband in the military for 20 years, they moved to Gainesville, Texas in 1999 to help with her husband’s family printing business located in Denton, TX. She joined her neighborhood church and right away helped paint murals on the nursery walls. She joined GAVA in 2010 to find support and knowledge from the many creative art members and find new inspiration and return to her love of painting. She loves to paint realistic watercolors of landscapes and still life. She loves photography and uses her own photos to create ideas for paintings. She also found a new interest in computer graphics and has done several projects using Adobe In Design and Photoshop. Pam enjoys working with watercolor and acrylic media. She recently painted a Lighthouse seascape wall mural for the Stanford House Senior Activity Center as a donation of her time.

Media: Oil & Acrylic
