Karen Tidwell

Raised in a family of artists, Karen began drawing at a young age, collecting sketchbooks filled with still-life, animals and people. She was introduced to painting with acrylic and oil at the age of 13, focusing on landscapes and wildlife.

Drawing and design classes at Tarrant County Junior College (TCC) helped her gain an understanding of composition, proportion and value. However, work, marriage and family took center-stage, and two decades would pass before she would return to creating art.

She has attended various workshops and classes through GAVA and has completed artwork in ink, charcoal, pastel, watercolor, oil and acrylic.

Karen currently shows her work in area banks and businesses, and is involved with Junior GAVA. Future goals are to expand her skill in watercolor and to create abstract art in acrylic.
