Cindy Westbrook.
Cindy Westbrook lived in Alice,Texas in her youth. She enjoyed art in many areas during that time. She was invited to provide artwork for the auction buyers at the livestock auction at the Jim Wells County Fair for several years. Most of this early work was in pen and ink and featured scenes from the rough brush country of South Texas.
Cindy moved to Gainesville eighteen years ago and opened her business, Grand Ave. Animal Clinic. Art continues to be an integral part of her life, though the medium changed from pen and ink to fluid acrylics. Many of her subjects are animals, not surprising since she is a veterinarian.
She especially loves horses and many of her paintings feature horses. She has been featured on the cover of the American Veterinary Medial Association’s journal twice over the years, with a resulting sale of a painting of an owl to a veterinary ophthalmologist on the west coast. She has won awards at the Marietta Art Show in Oklahoma and awards, including Best of Show twice, in the North Central Texas College Art Show. She has won a specialty prize in the Denton County Art League show. Recently she was asked to display two of her drawings at the Oxide Gallery in Denton, Texas. She has displayed her work at Muenster State Bank, First State Bank, First State Bank on 82, and Prosperity Band, and Powell Fine Art Gallery in Gainesville, Texas.
Cindy also enjoys photography and much of her reference material comes from her photographs or a combination of several photographs.
